Mumbai Day 14: Old Suburbs
Today I had the chance to walk through some of the original suburban city fabric of Mumbai. Unplanned and unregulated, developments were sporadic––sometimes reminiscent of colonial South Bombay, at others forming incredibly narrow streets lined with shops and housing (such as those pictured below). Some of these are best viewed from a series of skywalks which run through the city, providing opportunities for above-grade viewing of the tumultuous composition.
