MICRO VS. MACRO
Instantaneity is the first ally of the microscopic. Instant satisfaction, instant pleasure, instant gratification: thoughtlessness in many forms.
Patience is the first ally of the macroscopic. Reflection, consideration, analysis: understanding that no answer is immediate.
To submerge oneself is the microscopic is to lose sight of the macroscopic, to surrender in any quest for Meaning. It is an endless quest for facade, for artifice, for appearance. It is a conceptual shell, a hollow substitute for mass.
Corporate America is happy to provide endless amounts of the microscopic; they endlessly delay investigation of the macroscopic.
Paradoxically, the macroscopic can only be found within the self. The microscopic lies in the infinity of distractions from the self, from Meaning, from understanding. The microscopic masquerades as fragments of the macroscopic. But no accumulation of the micro can approach the macro.
