Mumbai Day 32: Marine Drive
Marine Drive is undoubtedly one of Mumbai's most popular public spaces. Stretching from the city's southernmost tip (Nariman Point) toward the newly-constructed Sealink, its boardwalk offers spectacular views of the surrounding city.
Unsurprisingly, given the minuscule amount of public space in Mumbai, Marine Drive is constantly under siege from residents and tourists alike. Its length makes it an ideal recreation space, and during cool evenings couples, families, teenagers, children, chai vendors, fruit vendors, photographers, and determined joggers mob its concrete footpath.
Marine Drive's southernmost tip serves as a secluded lookout for couples and friends to view the city, yet even here there is no escape from the eyes of others. Twosomes cuddle mere feet from one-other, each pair resting in a delicate anonymity.
